I'll be the first one to post here.... RIP beautiful girl! You gave your heart, your life and we took memories that will last a lifetime! You were taken much too soon and I'll never understand why things like this happens to you or any other horse for that matter. With old age I can understand, but why you who was perfectly healthy and sound the one minute, then..... I won't understand it and I definitely won't get used to it. Not ever. RIP baby! I'll see you again some day!

You were so lucky to have seen this girl up close and in person while she was still here... what was she like? This picture is how I see her now, she's still racing and she's crossed that finish line to win that race. With Saint Liam, Lost in the Fog, Electrocutionist... all the horses we have seen taken from us this year and over the past years.

RIP Pine Island :Tears:

RIP Beautiful girl. You gave everything you had for the sport, for us fans, for your connections. The memories, the joy, the tears.... memories for me that will last for years and years. I will look upon a picture such as this and try to put the picture of you going down out of my mind. I was watching this race from a little screen at the Northlands Park track and only saw DNF on Pine Island and Fleet Indian's results... I didn't actually see the breakdowns of both fillies until I saw the replays on ESPN or the Score. I am still crying... how and why do things like this happen? I'll never understand! You were so lucky Jessie-kad to see her up close... what was she like?

I am so brokenhearted. Thank you for posting this incredibly beautiful photo. What a great filly.

she was beautiful!
I will miss her.
Her breakdown reminded me of Go For Wand

Only horses that can achieve such greatness are the ones that god chose,
and the ones chosen use that gift to the fullest extent.

I never actually met her, but you couldn't miss her in the paddock. She was a big, imposing specimen, but from what I heard from those who did have the pleasure of knowing her, she was sweet and gentle. I must say I've never seen a horse run the way she did. It was so unique, much like Lost in the Fog's stride was unique. She definitely will be missed, and for me, it is disheartening to know I will never again photograph this powerful and lumbering dark filly. She was to be something special for the sport, but fate had something else in mind. Why things like this happen we'll never know. My condolences to her connections and fans. This is my tribute to her, captured in the moment of her glory.

You are so lucky to be able to photograph her..... it is so hard being so many miles away from these big and beautiful and wonderful horses. Maybe one day I'll be able to go there and see some of them, but for now it is on line racing highlights and the pictures that I see on line at final turn or here. One day I'll be there though. I have made it a mission because these horses won't be around forever and missing an opportunity to see a horse like Pine Island or Lost in the Fog I just kick myself for. Saint Liam, Electrocutionist.... it reminds me of how easily things can go wrong. I have a portrait drawing of her I just have to get a scanner to post it. It is byfar the best portrait I have ever done of a horse and rightfully so, although it won't do her justice. I have been trying to find prints (nice prints) of PI to buy so that I can frame and have a part of her in my collection. So far, I have Skip Away, Folklore, Bandini, and Barbaro... and a really nice girl on FTG gave me permission to get a print done of a portrait she'd done on Rock Hard Ten. I have a huge list of pictures I'm wanting to find of these horses....... but I don't have the resources in Alberta or Canada for that matter. Thank you though for posting the picture of Pine Island. Mine will be up soon!
